Nagoyaky: Empowering Indonesian Manga to Compete Globally

Thu, August 2025 15:03:48

Nagoyaky is a platform dedicated to manga and comic readers, proudly showcasing works created by talented Indonesian artists to compete on an international stage. It offers a free comic reading experience with an optional subscription feature for those who want an enhanced, more immersive journey. Beyond just being a reading app, Nagoyaky acts as a bridge, connecting different types of readers with diverse preferences and motivations.

We’ve identified four main reader types that Nagoyaky aims to serve:

  1. The Free Seekers – Readers who simply love free content and will happily consume anything that’s accessible without payment.
  2. The Considerers – Readers who carefully weigh whether to subscribe or not. They might prepare for a marathon reading session, deciding between a monthly or yearly plan.
  3. The Supporters – Readers who are deeply interested in the artist or author, and subscribe as a way to continuously support them.
  4. The Collectors – Readers who purchase everything an author releases, cherishing the works as part of their personal collection.

By understanding these different mindsets, Nagoyaky hopes to provide a platform that caters to all, fostering both accessibility and sustainable support for creators.

The Story Behind the Name

Nagoyaky wasn’t always called by its current name. In its earliest concept phase, it was known as Jokocomic. The founder, a huge fan of the Spanish series Money Heist, had a habit of incorporating city names into all their projects. Initially, the name Tokyoky was considered, but it didn’t quite feel right. While browsing maps for inspiration, the city of Nagoya caught their attention. The “KY” suffix comes from “Karya Yudi” – a personal signature of the founder. And thus, Nagoyaky was born.

Our Vision

Nagoyaky’s goal is more than just providing a digital bookshelf. We want to create a thriving space where Indonesian creators can showcase their work, where readers from all backgrounds can discover stories they love, and where both can grow together in a global arena.

We believe that the future of Indonesian comics lies in community, creativity, and accessibility. Whether you’re here to binge-read for free, support your favorite artist, or collect every single release, Nagoyaky will be here to make your reading journey exciting and meaningful.

Stay tuned for the official release of Nagoyaky, and be part of a movement that puts Indonesian creativity on the world stage.

Thank you for your support!
